Summer has arrived in Toronto - and so have we. Just back from our trip to Tokyo (Guides coming soon to Complet), it seems as though we have brought the Japan heat home.
One of my favourite AM summer walks is through Riverdale and then on to Leslieville, ending in Withrow park with a cool ice coffee. The PM version of this stroll would include Pizza from Blondies and a couple craft peers from Left Field and settling in at Riverdale Park to watch the sunset.
The first coffee and meal should be at Bonjour Brioche, a bakery and restaurant that has been serving French treats since 1997. The bakery was founded by Henri and Lori Feasson (who have since retired). Henri learned to make croissants in the south of france, and the recipes have remained the same under new ownership.
You can walk by Bonjour Brioche and shop the window, or you can sit for a lovely meal. I personally love the shaded, wood patio.
What We Ordered: Quiche du jour that comes with a side salad with a perfect light vinaigrette. The Quiche Lorraine is elite as well $13.75 | Avocado Toast with Scrambled Eggs $14
Recommend For: The restaurant is family friendly, expect flying crayons or croissants. The bakery is the neighbourhood living room; to cure the night before or fuel the day ahead.
Reservations: No, but it is worth the wait. Save your sport in line and run over to Boxcar to grab a coffee. (Ignore the ghastly Tim Horton’s on the corner).
Complet’s Current
We have officially launched our Instagram and have planned our summer content - International guides coming soon..! Give us a follow for past and present content.
Memorable Meal?: The above pictured bite of wagyu steak from the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo Japan.
Where am I Eating Next?: Probably Impact Kitchen or something from the Big Carrot. After this trip, I need a sodium detox and a lot of green vegetables.
What My Friends Are Talking About: Martine’s Wine Bar, very excited to try.
Added to My International Must-See List: Toklas in London. I know it’s been done and posted about; but I have never been and I am a sucker for a good terrace and fresh summer food.
