Before I travel, I often look to the social media feeds - and paparazzi pics - of my favourite locals. Below is a list of where the French (or Francais by marriage) frequent.
Creative Director of Balmain Olivier Rousteing told Dua Lipa’s Service 95 that he can be found at Mauro Colagreco’s Anahi - a renovated celebration of Argentine culture. Haven’t been, can’t say I’d go.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Courreges Creative Director Nicolas Di Felice can be found at seafood hotspot Soces or grabbing a drink at one the popular Paris “guinguettes”, Rosa Bonheur. I imagine he’s “sur Seine” in the summer months. I have been twice, and if you are looking to down +5 drinks, I cannot recommend the spot enough.
Is there anything more French than LVMH? Wife of Alexandre Arnault and Co-Founder of the Sofia Richie approved brand DESTREE, Geraldine Guyot-Arnalt often posts snaps (of the French fries) from the classic, and difficult to get into, Le Bistrot Paul Bert. I have yet to go and it is in the Top 3 of must-do in Paris list.
(So nice we’re referencing her twice) - Geraldine also hosted a recent birthday party at the Cheval Blanc (the LVMH hotel, oui). Can confirm it is as chic as it looks. It is worth visiting for the art alone.
Daughter of restaurateurs, Rouje co-founder Jeanne Damas opened her own restaurant in 2019, Chez Jeanne.
Our favourite “bobo” Pilates instructor - and the girl we would most like to be friends with - Alice Pilate might as well be sponsored by the wine bars of Le Marais. She recently posted about the Italian food at Cibus. The hole-in-the-wall with the cute waiter tops our Paris list as well.
Natalie Portman, French adjacent due to residency and her (current/ former?) husband Benjamin Millepied (French choreographer and dancer) frequents Georges Restaurant. A place with perfect views in the Pompidou.
Carine Roitfeld - how could I write about Paris and not mention Carine - was of course at the opening of BB Blanche way back when. The restaurant is by Jean Imbert so naturally as he has gained notoriety with the rise of LVMH, so have his establishments. In case you are living under a fashion rock, Imbert is the culinary mind behind the Plaza Athénée, Dior Cafe, Venice-Simplon-Orient Express, Le Mutinés at The Brando, Hôtel Martinez, and we assume everything Pharrell eats, to name a few…). We recommend eating on the terrace. If you do not make it to BB Blanche, please have the most expensive lunch of your life at the Plaza.
A bientôt! Bisous Bisous!
